Official: U.S. Ford Fiesta "Made in Mexico", Sedan & Hatchback Versions Arriving in 2011

Confirming earlier reports, Ford made it official that the N.American Fiesta will be manufactured at the company’s revised Cuautitlán Assembly Plant in Mexico in early 2011. Moreover, Ford announced that aside from the sedan version of the Fiesta, the European hatchback model will also be added to the U.S. lineup.

“We’re looking at every aspect of what’s defined Ford as a small-car leader in Europe and working to build on this expertise in driving dynamics and design across a global family of Ford cars that are as exciting to drive as they are to look at,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s VP of Global Product Development.

Ford’s new multi-plant in Mexico represents a $3 billion U.S. investment including the support of local suppliers. It's Mexico’s largest ever automotive investment and it’s expected to create around 4,500 Ford jobs. Together with all direct and indirect employment at suppliers, the moves affect 30,000 jobs in Mexico. Audi R8 Gets First Full-LED Hedlamp Option

The range of equipment available for Audi’s R8 sports car has been enhanced with the addition of the first full-LED headlamps. Besides the daytime running lights that now feature 24 LEDs per headlamp, the new unit utilizes light-emitting diodes for the turn signals, the low-beam and the high-beam headlights. Apart from looking really cool, advantages in the use of LEDs are lower energy consumption and a color that more closely resembles daylight, provides greater contrast and is easier on the human eye. -Continued

Moreover, LEDs are also non-wearing, require a lower voltage, are compact and offer greater design freedom. However, the bad thing is that LEDs cost, and they cost a lot as if you decide to tick the LED option in the R8’s list of equipment, it will set you back €3,590 which translates to a whopping $5,570.

Our eBay find of the day concerns this 1960 Chevrolet Impala that was used in the cult 2001 Jeepers Creepers horror movie starring Justin Long (Darry) and Gina Philips (Trish). The seller supports that although the Impala has been repaired since its debut in the movie, a lot of the flaws remain such as the trunk that was pried open and Darry) tied it shut with his pink underwear, and the noticeable tear on the left side of the lower front bumper centre. -Continued

Another interesting point of the Impala is the fact that the producers made the car appear to have a standard transmission by installing a floor shifter, when it is actually an automatic. Not bad for cruising but if you’re out at night with a gal and you wish to score, we’d avoid playing the Jeepers Creepers song if we were you…
