Hyundai’s US Sales Drop By -22.6% in January

Despite the addition of the Veracruz SUV in its range, Hyundai’s US sales in January recorded a significant plunge. The Korean carmaker sold 21,452 units for the month of January 2008 compared to 27,721 units in January 2007 which translates in a 22.6% drop. With the exclusion of the Accent, every single model in Hyundai’s line-up was down in sales compared to last year.

"We are disappointed with our sales results and recognize this is a challenging sales environment and the industry overall is struggling," said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America's vice president of national sales. "We are hopeful that the government's proposed fiscal stimulus package and our newly announced incentives will get us back on track in February." -Continued
