2009 Audi A4 Earns 5-Star Rating in NHTSA Crash Tests

Audi pompously announced today that its all-new 2009 A4 Sedan managed to rack up a 5-star rating for frontal, side and rollover crashes performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). While the U.S. law requires all passenger cars to pass a 30 mph frontal crash test and a 33.5 mph side crash test, NHSTA's tests involve crashes that are conducted at 5 mph above the required speeds giving one star for the worst performers to five stars for the best models. -Continued

Apparently happy with the results, Audi of America's Executive Vice President Johan de Nysschen said: “Unparalleled safety is a cornerstone of Audi’s new vehicle development and we are thrilled to see the A4 earn top marks in one of the toughest crash testing programs in the world.”

The new A4 officially went on sale in the U.S. in late September and it is currently offered in the States with a choice of two gasoline units, an entry-level 211HP 2.0-liter TFSI and a 265HP 3.2-liter V6 FSI.
